Support Dress for Success | Donation Drives
Please consider organizing a donation drive for us!
Donation Drives are coordinated campaigns to
collect business-appropriate attire for Dress for Success. If
your office, professional organization, child's school, place
of worship or other association would like to help women in
need, a donation drive is the perfect way to get involved!
We
accept new and nearly-new professional attire, handbags and
accessories for
women of all sizes. Contact
caroline@dressforsuccess.org for more information on
hosting a drive, or for other opportunities to get involved.
To organize a
donation drive, you will need to:
- Contact your nearest Dress for Success affiliate to:
- Inquire about the greatest needs. Ask about doing an accessory,
plus-sized clothing or shoe drive.
- Let them know you are planning a drive.
- Request a drive kit and applicable materials.
- Obtain the necessary approval from your company or organization.
- Pick the dates of your donation drive. One day? A whole week? (You may
want to host your drive during
S.O.S.
- Send One Suit - Weekend, which is held annually in March.)
- Involve co-workers or friends to share the responsibilities.
- Pick a time and place for people to drop off their donated items. You will need to be sure that contributions can be locked away at night.
- Find out from the participating Dress for Success affiliate their
specific policies for drop-off or pick-up of donations. If necessary, arrange for a moving or delivery service to pick up the donated items and bring them to the
Dress for Success affiliate.
- Determine what type of budget you will need and raise the necessary
funds. Typical costs might include posters and balloons to promote the
donation drive, delivery or pick-up services, etc.
- Plan to collect financial contributions. Donation drives often include financial donations from the participants, such as the host company and its employees. Providing this option also encourages men to take part in the event.
- Decide how you will market your suit drive to generate awareness,
volunteers, donations for the event and start spreading the word!
