Support Dress for Success | Suit Drives
Please consider organizing a suit drive for us!
Suit Drives are coordinated campaigns to collect business-appropriate attire for donation to Dress for Success. If your office, professional organization, child's school, place of worship or other association would like to help women in need, a suit drive is the perfect way to get involved, and we would be most grateful for your support!
To organize a suit drive, you will need to:
- Contact your nearest Dress for Success affiliate to:
- Inquire about its clothing needs. If the organization cannot accept any more apparel donations at that time, ask about doing an accessory or shoe drive.
- Let them know that you are planning a suit drive.
- Receive instructions.
- Obtain the necessary approval from your company (or other organization).
- Pick the dates of your suit drive. One day? A whole week? (We suggest you host your suit drive during
S.O.S.
- Send One Suit - Weekend, which is held annually in February.)
- Involve co-workers or friends who will share the responsibilities. Don't run your suit drive alone!
- Pick a time and place for people to drop off their donated items. You will need to be sure that contributions can be locked away at night.
- Arrange for a moving or delivery service to pick up the donated items and bring them to the participating Dress for Success affiliate location.
- Determine what type of budget you will need and raise the necessary funds. Typical costs might include posters and balloons to promote the suit drive, moving or delivery services, etc.
- Plan to collect financial contributions. Suit drives usually include financial donations from the participants, such as the host company and its employees. Providing this option also encourages men to take part in the event.
- Decide how you will market your suit drive to generate awareness, volunteers and donations for the event.
For additional information, locate the affiliate nearest you and visit its Web site or contact the organization directly.
