New York, NY
(February 4, 2010)
Dress for Success Worldwide, an international non-profit
organization that helps disadvantaged women achieve
self-sufficiency,
announces
Aetna
as the national sponsor of its new Professional Womens Group
Health and Wellness initiative,
Aetna
and Dress for Success: Empowering Women & Their Families to
Make Healthy Life Choices.
Aetna,
one of the nations
leading diversified health care benefits companies, is
generously supporting the creation and implementation of a
health education program, which will be incorporated into each
Dress for Success Professional Womens Group (PWG) across the
country.
The Professional Womens Group is a networking association for
Dress for Success clients who have recently entered the
workforce, some for the first time, to provide support,
practical information and inspiration to help women achieve
self-defined success in career and in life.
The Health and Wellness initiative will be a key
component of the PWGs 2010 curriculum.
Dress
for Success found that many of the women served by the
organization were lacking basic health literacy. With the
majority of PWG members being single mothers, providing health
education will positively impact entire families.
This
comprehensive curriculum will provide women with valuable
information and tools to ensure a healthy and productive
lifestyle at work and at home. Each
affiliate will conduct health and wellness sessions on topics
such as
Healthy Aging and Elder Care; Cancer Awareness and Prevention;
Mental Health and Personal Wellness; and HIV and AIDS
Awareness for Women and Girls.
Health literacy is an integral component of personal
success, said Joi Gordon,
CEO of Dress for Success Worldwide.
Dress for Success greatly appreciates the generosity
of Aetna
for providing us with the tools to incorporate this important
initiative into our programming.
Personal wellness is a foundational element of
self-confidence, and we are pleased to support a program that
will help women lead healthier, more productive lives both
at home and at work, said Floyd Green, head of Community
Relations and Urban Marketing at Aetna.
We look forward to a great program and a successful
partnership with Dress for Success.
