New York
– Dress for Success, an international non-profit organization that promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women, announces March 30-April 5, 2008 as their annual S.O.S – Send One Suit – Week® campaign. Women nationwide are encouraged to donate one new or nearly new interview suit to help other women enter the workforce and take charge of their lives.
During S.O.S Week, women can bring their suit donations to any dressbarn store. dressbarn, one of America’s premier specialty retailers of women’s casual and career fashions, has been the national drop-off site and title sponsor for S.O.S Week for six years. To date, more than 100,000 suits have been donated by consumers through dressbarn during S.O.S Week. To find your local dressbarn store, visit www.dressbarn.com.
The Style Network, part of Comcast Entertainment Group and the premiere television destination for women, is also a national sponsor of S.O.S Week.
“One suit can truly make a difference in a woman’s life,” said Joi Gordon, Chief Executive Officer of Dress for Success Worldwide. “With the suit donation, a woman is afforded the opportunity to walk into her interview with confidence, the essential first step towards economic independence. Once the new job begins, she will be given a network of support and the necessary career development tools to help her thrive in work and in life.”
Suits collected at dressbarn stores during S.O.S Week are distributed to over 60 Dress for Success affiliates in the United States. S.O.S Week provides, on average, more than 30% of the annual suiting needs for Dress for Success affiliates.
Highlights of the 2008 S.O.S Week include:
- A special Dress for Success episode of How Do I Look? on The Style Network
- Public service announcements featuring Finola Hughes, host of How Do I Look?, on The Style Network
- Hundreds of corporate suit drives to supplement the consumer collection at dressbarn stores
