DIAGEO AND DRESS FOR SUCCESS
LAUNCH “SOMETHING TO SHARE”
Sean “Diddy” Combs-designed scarf to go on sale for charity
New York, NY – (February 2008)
Diageo, the world’s leading spirits, beer and wine company, has teamed up with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs to launch the “Something to Share” campaign—dedicated to empowering a community of people to share their knowledge, experience and passion for a great cause— Dress for Success, a nonprofit organization that promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women.
The “Something to Share” mission is to establish a community of people helping people – built on the premise that everyone has something to share regardless of one’s station in life.
In celebration of the program launch, fashion mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has designed the limited edition “Something to Share” silk scarf for women and pocket square for men to help drive awareness to the cause. The “Something to Share” scarf will retail for $30 (a pocket square will also be available for $25) with 100% of net profits to benefit Dress for Success. Both pieces are available beginning in February 2008 at
www.SomethingtoShare.org.
Combs’ design includes the colors burnt orange, royal blue, platinum, cream and gold to complement all pigment types, embodying the universal call for diversity. The crescent shapes are an element from the Dress for Success logo, and the chains represent the emotional tie to the organization.
The “Something to Share” campaign will culminate with the Dress for Success annual gala on April 9, 2008 in New York City. The “Something to Share” Gala is a night of celebration for the organization’s past achievements and future endeavors. The event will honor several executives in the corporate world for their contributions to both the “Something to Share” campaign and to Dress for Success over the years. This year’s honorees include Doug Checkeris, CEO of MediaCom USA, Rosemarie Ryan, president of JWT New York and Mary Wong, president of the Office Depot Foundation.
“This initiative is based on the concept that we all have something to share, which coincides with our Skills for Life program. Corporate citizenship is an important and serious issue,” said Debra Kelly Ennis, Chief Marketing Officer Diageo North America. “Something to Share also supports our company’s goal of continuing to improve the face of alcohol in society, to which Diageo is fully committed.”
“Diageo and Sean Combs are giving Dress for Success an incredible awareness and fundraising opportunity with the Something to Share campaign and scarf. We believe the message that everyone has something to share will resonate powerfully in communities across the country,” said Joi Gordon, Chief Executive Officer of Dress for Success Worldwide. “We are humbled and honored by the generosity and passion of Diageo’s employees and partners.”
Whether by purchasing the scarf or attending the upcoming gala, the public is invited to support Dress for Success and allow the organization to continue running its vital programs to help women find gainful employment and build a career bettering both their lives and the lives of their families.
