Dress for Success is a leader in employment retention for disadvantaged women. In 2011, through the support of the Walmart Foundation, Dress for Success will expand its efforts in the areas of job preparation and career advancement through the launch of the Going Places Network by Walmart.
The Going Places Network by Walmart will help unemployed and under-employed Dress for Success clients gain professional skills, accelerate their job search and build confidence through weekly training sessions, one-on-one career coaching and networking in a supportive environment. This program was first piloted in New York City in 2009 in response to the challenging economic climate and implemented last year by several other affiliates.

Through a $2 million grant from the Walmart Foundation, 60 Dress for Success affiliates across the United States will roll out the Going Places Network by Walmart in 2011 and expand and enhance the program in 2012.
The program will serve as a “safety net” for women who are referred to our Suiting Program and Career Center at the beginning of their job search, but do not immediately land a job.
With the addition of the Going Places Network by Walmart, disadvantaged women will have access to support and services for every phase of their professional lives, starting with the job search and leading to sustained employment and self-sufficiency.
