“The support I received from Dress for Success has greatly encouraged me to persevere and never give up on my job search.” - Amy

Dress for Success is a leader in employment retention for disadvantaged women. In 2011, through the support of the Walmart Foundation, Dress for Success expanded its efforts in the areas of job preparation and career advancement through the launch of the Going Places Network by Walmart.

The Going Places Network by Walmart helps unemployed and under-employed Dress for Success clients gain professional skills, accelerate their job search and build confidence through weekly training sessions, one-on-one career coaching and networking in a supportive environment. This program was first piloted in New York City in 2009 in response to the challenging economic climate and implemented last year by several other affiliates.

“This is a positive, happy, fun environment and I always leave feeling empowered and motivated.” - Carmen

Through a $2 million grant from the Walmart Foundation, 60 Dress for Success affiliates across the United States rolled out the Going Places Network by Walmart in 2011 and have continued to expand and enhance the program in subsequent years.

The program serves as a “safety net” for women who are referred to our Suiting Program and Career Center at the beginning of their job search but do not immediately land a job.

With the addition of the Going Places Network by Walmart, disadvantaged women have access to support and services for every phase of their professional lives, starting with the job search and leading to sustained employment and self-sufficiency.

“Dress for Success is my biggest supporter. You have given me a reason to get up and out in the morning and you push me forward to keep going.” - Deborah
