How can I make a financial gift to Dress for Success?
You can mail monetary contributions to Dress for Success Worldwide at 32 East 31st Street, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10016. Please make all checks payable to Dress for Success Worldwide. Credit card donations can be made by visiting our Donate: Funding page or by sending an e-mail to
donate@dressforsuccess.org.

How can I make a clothing donation?
Dress for Success relies on individual contributions of business attire and accessories to make our clients look and feel their best! Check out our list of affiliate locations to find the one closest to you. Each Dress for Success has its own hours of operation, specific drop-off days and times and policies regarding what items they can and cannot accept.

Are clothing and financial donations to Dress for Success tax deductible? How do I obtain a receipt?
Dress for Success affiliates in the U.S. have obtained 501(c)(3) tax status from the IRS.
All donations are therefore tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Regulations about tax deductions vary from country to country. For information
about donations to one of our international locations, please contact that
affiliate directly. Click here to view
the list of Dress for Success programs.
Tax receipts are issued by the affiliate that received the financial
contribution or clothing. If you need a receipt, please contact the Dress
for Success you supported to request one.

How do I donate apparel if there is no affiliate near me?
We have more than 110 affiliates worldwide and most can receive shipments of clothing. Please check the Dress for Success affiliates page to see where we have Dress for Success locations. Contacting the site first to ensure that they are currently accepting clothing is
strongly recommended.

What type of clothing and products does Dress for Success accept?
A list of the items that we need appears below. To
ensure that an article of clothing or suit is appropriate for
our clients, ask yourself if you would feel comfortable
wearing it on an interview. If the answer is yes, then
it is right for our clients.
- Interview-appropriate suits and related separates (the greatest need is for items size 14 and up)
- Solid color blouses
- Shoes that are suitable for the workplace. Our clients receive brown, black or navy shoes most frequently. Please no heels higher than 3 inches and no open-toed shoes.
- Unopened hosiery
- Unused undergarments (Note: Not all locations accept such items; please check with the affiliate closest to you before making this type of donation.)
- Black tote bags, attaché bags or briefcases
- Basic professional accessories (including jewelry, scarves, belts and handbags)
- Unopened cosmetics
- Coats and outerwear (Note: Not all locations accept such items; please check with the affiliate closest to you before making this type of donation.)

How can I become a volunteer? What volunteer opportunities are available in my community?
Dress for Success is a volunteer-driven organization.
Simply put, the individuals who donate their time and talent
to us make it possible for us to fulfill our mission.
There are a number of ways that people can get
involved with Dress for Success--from working one-on-one with
our clients, to sorting clothing donations, serving as a
mentor, helping with special events and much, much more.
Each affiliate has its own volunteer needs and
opportunities--and is eager to engage people throughout the
community! Visit the Dress for Success affiliates
page to find the program closest to you and then go to its Web
site for information on current openings and whom to contact
about volunteering.

Will my local affiliate pick up my donation?
Dress for Success is a volunteer-run organization, and most locations simply do not have the necessary resources or staff to provide this service. Please contact your local affiliate for more information about its donation policies.

Our Web site includes a list of cities that we have targeted
for expansion--and where we have applications pending. Click here to learn if
someone is in the process of starting a Dress for Success in
your city or region. If an application is pending--and
you would like to get involved--please send an e-mail to
worldwide@dressforsuccess.org. We would be happy to
put you in touch with the candidate from your area.

How can I organize a suit drive?
Review our list of Dress for Success affiliates
to find the one nearest to you. You can then contact that Dress for Success directly to find out about the organizations needs and to obtain a suit drive kit. Some affiliates hold other types of drives as well and collect pantyhose, accessories, shoes or funds to purchase items.

What is S.O.S. - Send One Suit
- Weekend? How can I get involved?
Our annual call-to-action campaign S.O.S. - Send One Suit - Weekend generates in-kind donations, awareness and funds for all of our affiliates in the U.S. S.O.S. Weekend is an opportunity for everyone to participate in our clothing drives and special events in order to help at least one woman on the path to self-sufficiency. What is Dress for Success Worldwide?
Located in New York City, Dress for Success Worldwide was established to oversee and provide support to our affiliates around the globe. The Worldwide office also focuses on strengthening and promoting the Dress for Success brand internationally and developing relationships with corporate, media and other sponsors. In addition to these responsibilities, we serve women at our locations in Manhattan, Queens and the Bronx, offering our clients business-appropriate attire and employment retention services, such as the Professional Women's Group,
Career Center and Women2Women mentoring.

What are affiliates? How do they operate?
We use the term affiliates to refer to the locations where we offer services. Each Dress for Success affiliate is a member of Dress for Success Worldwide and is an independent non-profit organization with its own policies, staff and board of directors. The Worldwide office licenses the Dress for Success name to affiliates, all of whom fulfill the overall mission of helping women journey towards self-sufficiency. Not all Dress for Success programs are available in every location; affiliates provide services to their communities based on local needs, cultural traditions and resources.
