"Dress for Success Washington DC has provided me with lots of support. I find my dignity and happiness as a woman. When they suited me for interview, I re-discovered my hope and my confidence. They also worked closely with me to refine my resume and to review my employment plan. I am inspired each time I attend our workshops where I meet women with the same situation like me. I feel like there is hope for tomorrow."

Mission
The mission of Dress for Success Washington, D.C is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Since opening our doors in 2002, we have served over 10,000 women in the DC Metropolitan area.
Programs

Suiting Program: Initially, clients are eligible to receive up to three complete outfits for interviewing. After clients receive a job offer, they receive up to a week's worth of professional clothing for their new job. Our boutique provides a true shopping experience filled with hundreds of suits and separates from our donors. This personal attention boosts confidence in our clients, many putting on a suit for the first time.

Career Center: The Career Center offers five computers with Internet access and MS Office software to allow clients to create and customize their resumes and cover letters, conduct job searches, and hone their computer skills. Volunteers are on-hand to assist on the computer and to perform mock interviews.

Professional Women's Group (PWG): After a client gains employment, she is invited to join our Professional Women's Group (PWG). In monthly seminar meetings, Dress for Success Washington DC offers women, who have been employed for one month, ongoing coaching and mentoring for career development and job retention. Women learn dynamics of the workplace, effective communication skills, financial literacy to build wealth, balancing work and home life, and unwritten/written rules of the workplace. Past topics have included: office politics, building your professional image, shopping on a budget, tax preparation, preparation for performance reviews, and workplace etiquette.
