What We Do

our mission
The mission of Dress for Success is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

HOW IT WORKS
At Dress for Success Houston, we focus on two main programs: our Suiting Program and our Job Retention Program in the Professional Women’s Group.
 
 
SUITING PROGRAM
·          We work with more than 100 non-profit organizations in the Houston area. These agencies work with us as our member organizations and refer low-income, job-ready women to us for a suiting appointment.

·         
Once a client is referred to us, she comes in for her first suit. Working with a personal shopper, the client receives seven items on her first visit – a full pant or skirt suit, a blouse, a handbag, shoes, a scarf, pantyhose and a pearl set.

·         
Once she secures a job, she is invited back to receive a second suit. We also offer scrubs and business separates at this time.



CAREER DEVELOPMENT
·          When a client becomes employed, she is invited to join the Professional Women’s Group – our signature career development and job retention program.

·         
The group meets four times a month and offers our clients networking opportunities and professional training and development tools.

·         
As part of the PWG, clients are also able to participate in our Financial Literacy, Scholarship and Mentoring programs as well as “The Success Pages” Book Club and Fit-4-Success health and wellness sessions.
