clothing donations | | We will be collecting gently used business attire, shoes, handbags and jewelry. Remember that all clothes must be clean and on hangers, and ready to wear to an interview.
Our next donation days are:
September 14, 2010 from 10:30am -3:00pm
October 5, 2010 from 10:30am - 3:00pm
November 2, 2010 from 10:30-3pm
- All clothes must be clean and on hangers
- All clothes must be something that you would wear to a professional job interview
- All clothes must be in excellent condition and less than 3 years old
- All clothes must be in season

- Business suits: pants & skirts ***Especially plus sizes & sizes 0-2***
- Dress shirts & blouses
- Slacks & skirts
- Blazers
- Handbags & purses
- Business appropriate shoes (no open-toe or backless)
- Jewelry & scarves
We do not accept the following:
undergarments, slips, camisoles
swimsuits
any clothing that smells like mothballs or smoke
open-toe or backless shoes
plaid or floral patterns
any clothing older than 3 yrs old
any clothing that is ripped or stained
used makeup or hosiery
hair accessories

donor information | | FAQS ABOUT DONATION:
1. Do you do pickups?
Unfortunately, we do not have the means to pick up donations in the Boston region. All donations must be dropped off at 989 Commonwealth Avenue.
2. Why do you need to have clothing items drycleaned?
Our clients usually do not have the means to pay for dry-cleaning before their interview and as a not-for-profit organization, Dress for Success Boston does not have the budget allocated for dry cleaning. We do not accept any dirty and out-of-date clothing -- please deliver those kind of donations to the Goodwill store, etc. If you are unable to dryclean, we ask that you consider donating $2 per item to help us offset any essential dry cleaning closts.
3. Is there an organization that accept men's business clothing?
Solutions at Work is a non-for-profit organized located in Cambridge that provides free interview apparell to men. Their contact number is (617) 576-0039 and website is: http://www.solutionsatwork.org/Services/SolutionsWear.html
4. Is there parking available?
There are four visitors parking spots located right infront of the front building. You just have to be lucky to snag a vacant spot!!
5. Can I get a tax receipt form?
Tax receipt forms are given to every donor.
6. I can't drop off the donations during your designated monthly donation day because I work in Waltham/will be out of town (etc.). How else can I drop off the donations to the office?
Please contact the Inventory Manager to schedule an appointment during office hours. Please note that ALL DONATIONS MUST BE SCHEDULED AHEAD OF TIME WITH THE INVENTORY MANAGER.
7. Are there any off-sites that accept donations for Dress for Success Boston?
Unfortunately, we do not have any off-sites and all donations must be dropped off at the office.
8. What are your office hours?
The office is opened from Monday to Thursdays from 10am to 4pm. We are not open in the evenings, Fridays nor week-ends.
9. Can I just leave the donations outside of your office when you are not opened?
Due to security reasons, please do not leave donations outside of our door as we are not liable for donations may be misplaced/stolen. In addition, the building is only open from 9am to 5pm and is not open on the week-ends.
10. Can I mail the donations?
You can mail the donations to the office. The mailing address is 989 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, MA, 02215.
