Personal Shoppers:

When:  Tuesdays from 10:00am – 2:00pm.  One hour suiting intervals.

Donation Sorting:

Volunteers participate in sorting business suits, separates and accessories at the Dress for Success boutique.  This is an enjoyable way to keep our boutique ready for our suiting program and meet other volunteers in the process.

Professional Women’s Group Committee

The PWG is a monthly meeting for employed clients to join. Women making the transition from unemployment to work face countless challenges, from understanding corporate culture to handling personal finances, often without any support systems to help them navigate this daunting change. The PWG offers members a comfortable atmosphere in which they can share, grow and network with other women who have recently made the same transition into the workforce. The committee is building a program of training topics, securing locations, donations, speakers and creating incentives for attendance. The topics focus on helping the women in their workplace, as they continue to develop skills and advance in their careers. The overall goal is to make these meetings something women want to come to again and again.  Meetings for our clients are held the first Wednesday of the month from 6-8pm.

Administrative Work

(location the boutique, schedule in advance Mon - Fri 9:30am-2pm)
As a volunteer-driven organization with limited resources, DFS is often in need of administrative help with tasks such as answering phones, updating databases, photocopying, doing mailings and other similar duties.

Mentor a Professional Women's Group Member

As part of our employment retention services, DFSMC offers a mentoring program for members of the Professional Women's Group. Members are matched with a professional businesswoman who has at least five years of work experience. Mentors provide an opportunity for women who have recently entered the workforce to feel supported and understood, and gain the tools and confidence that will help them both set and achieve goals and adjust to their new work environment.

Communications

We are looking for individuals with public relations/media experience to write press releases, photo captions, etc. and distribute them to local media.  Estimated time commitment is 4 hours per month.  Work does not have to be done at our site.

Special Events and Fundraising

Volunteers are invited to help with many special events throughout the year. These opportunities include serving on committees for one of our fundraisers, helping with set-up and logistics and all around event planning. Individuals are also invited to host their own fundraisers. Dress for Success Mercer County is always in need of funding and encourages such efforts on all levels.

The mission of Dress for Success is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

Thank you in advance for your support and interest in Dress for Success Mercer County.
