financial donations |   | Dress for Success South Central PA needs financial support to operate our employment retention and suiting programs—and to build a strong and effective organization. Your donation will ensure that our much-needed services can be accessed by women throughout south central Pennsylvania. Every contribution, no matter the size, can make a big difference—just a few dollars can have a tremendous impact on the lives of women throughout our regional area. We are a 501 (c) 3 organization and donations are tax deductible as permitted by law.

$1 in the Suit Pocket Campaign
For every suit you donate in 2009 - put $1 in one of the suit pockets. If you decide to implement this with your clothing donations - please let the volunteers know when donating your suits. Last year there were over 10,000 suits donated to Dress for Success South Central PA. Imagine how your dollars will add up to support women in your community!
Silk Scarf ~ donate $32 or more and receive the Sean Combs Scarf. We will ship it to your home. Please indicate that you wish to receive the scarf, as there is a limited supply.

Your new or nearly new professional clothing can help a woman enter or return to the workforce in style—and with a renewed sense of confidence and self-esteem! The transformation that takes place when a woman comes to Dress for Success South Central PA for her interview suit is a crucial first step in her journey towards economic independence.
It is the generosity of women in the community—who are looking to help other women build better futures for themselves—that makes what we do possible.
So please consider sharing your suits and other professional apparel with Dress for Success South Central PA! All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Tax receipts will be provided upon request.
For Dry Cleaner locations and recommendations:
1. Please make sure they are exceptional donations appropriate of business suits or separates (tan and black pants) for our mission. Our dry cleaning partners donate their time and service. This is not a drop off point for items that are not appropriate for our mission.
2. If they are already stained or damaged we can not use the items.
3. If the item is clean and you want the dry cleaner to deliver it, please bring it to the dry cleaner on a hanger and let them know they are already clean.

This location is open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and requires an appointment for donations that are before or after our normal client hours.

General Information about Donatons
When making a donation, please include a list of the items you are contributing to Dress for Success South Central PA along with your name and mailing address. We will use this information to prepare your tax receipt.
Your list need only include the total number of items in the following categories: suits, separates, overcoats, shoes and purses. No brand names, monetary values or other more specific categories such as "slacks" or "blouses" are necessary. We also have a donation receipt form that you can fill out in the boutique for your convenience.
What We Accept
If you are unsure whether an item is appropriate for Dress for Success South Central PA, ask yourself if you would wear it to an interview or to work in an professional environment. If the answer is yes, then we need it!
Because our storage space is limited, we ask that you please only contribute clothing that fits the criteria below. Attire that is not interview or work appropriate should be given to another local organization.

Clothing should be cleaned and on hangers.
- Coordinated, contemporary and interview-appropriate skirt and pant suits in styles not more than three years old
- Blouses and shells to be worn under suits
- Professional black dress pants
- Interview and work appropriate separates, including blazers, jackets, shirts, pants and skirts
- Professional shoes
- Unused hosiery
- Unopened cosmetics
- Jewelry, scarves and other accessories appropriate for the office
- New, unused undergarments
- Attaché cases, briefcases and professional-looking handbags
Items needed for women entering industry and service jobs:
- White and black golf shirts (no logos) for industry jobs (men & women)
- White button down shirts with long and short sleeves (men & women)
- Khaki and black pants
- "Like new" scrubs in any color or print
- Gently use flat black shoes
We have a particular need for 0 and 2 and plus-size clothing.
Please note that we cannot accept the following items. We suggest donating clothing on this list to another local organization.
- Casual attire, such as jeans, t-shirts and shorts
- Large bulky sweaters
- Shoes not appropriate for a professional environment, such as sneakers, flip flops, casual sandals
- Evening wear
- Fur coats
- Wedding/prom dresses
- Used cosmetics
- Opened/used hosiery
- Used undergarments
- Men's clothing (with exception to white shirts and gently used golf shirts in plain colors)
- Suits and dresses that are not interview appropriate

| guidelines for valuing donations |   | The IRS requires proof that a donation was made and documentation supporting its appraised value. Its guideline for valuing a donation is fair market value – the price that you, an informed and willing seller, would get if you sold the item(s) to an informed and willing buyer. *Please note that the value of an item could be higher depending on its brand.
