Dress for Success San Francisco does not accept clothing donations on a daily basis, but rather on specific clothing drop off days.

We are grateful for donations in every size. We are especially in need of professional suits sizes 16 and up and shoe sizes 9-11.

Our next clothing drop off date will be:

Date: Thursday, September 16th 2010
Time: 4-6pm
Place: 500 Sutter Street, Suite 218
                  and
               

Date: Saturday, September 18th 2010

Time: 10am- 12pm
Place: 500 Sutter Street, Suite 218

Parking: Sutter/ Stockton Garage or 450 Sutter Please do not double park to drop off; your car may be towed if you leave it at anytime. We highly recommend the garages listed above.  

Donation Requirements:
Due to limited space we maintain strict clothing requirements. Please review clothing requirements BEFORE donation day. Please click here for complete list of requirements.

We will ONLY accept the following:  

    • Matching suit (jacket/pant or skirt) 
    • All clothing MUST be on hangers - NO BAGS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
    • Work appropriate shoes
    • Handbags (briefcases, portfolios or work appropriate handbag)
    • Current need is 12-16 size pant suits
    • Please note: Dress for Success San Francisco reserves the right to refuse donation if it does not follow guidelines listed above.

guidelines for valuing donations
Dress for Success San Francisco will provide tax receipts for all donations.

The Value Guide below will assist you in determining the tax deductible value of any item you are donating to our organization. You may choose a value within the range listed.

Women's Clothing:

Suit             $6.00 - $25.00
Pant Suit      $6.50 - $25.00
Slack           $3.50 - $12.00
Jacket         $4.00 - $12.00
Handbag      $2.00 - $20.00
Blouse         $2.50 - $12.00
Shoes          $2.00 - $25.00
Skirt            $3.00 - $8.00

Donor Bill of Rights
Philanthropy is based on voluntary action for the common good. To ensure that philanthropy merits the respect and trust of the general public, and that donors and prospective donors can have full confidence in the non-profit organizations and causes they are asked to support, Dress for Success San Francisco declares that all donors maintain these rights:

1. To be informed of the organization's mission, of the way the organization intends to use donated resources, and of its capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes.

2. To be informed of the identity of those serving onthe organization's governing board and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgement in its stewardship responsibilities.

3. To have access to the organization's most recent financial statements.

4. To be assured their gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given.

5. To receive appropriate acknowledgement and recognition.

6. To be assured that information about their donation is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by law.

7. To expect that all relationships with individuals representing organizations of interest to the donor will be professional in nature.

8. To be informed whether those seeking donations are volunteers, employees of the organization or hired solicitors.

9. To be assured that personal contact information obtained by Dress for Success San Francisco will not be sold, rented or exchanged with other non-profit organizations.

10. To feel free to ask questions when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful and forthright answers.
