Guidelines for Donations
Visualize yourself getting ready to go to a job interview. You want to look polished and professional because that will make a good first impression on your interviewer and it will make you feel confident and ready to go get that job.
That is exactly the type of clothing that Dress for Success Atlanta clients need - for the very same reasons. Many of them leave our showroom to go directly to an interview. You do not want to go to an interview in worn, dirty or out-of-style clothing. These women are exactly like you. They don't want to, either, and we don't offer them anything that you wouldn't wear.
Think about that when you are deciding how to distribute the wardrobe you no longer need: if you have items that meet our clients' needs, please donate them to Dress for Success Atlanta. If you have other items, please donate those to an organization that can use them. That is what we must do with items unsuitable for our clients, and our volunteers spend precious hours sorting for this purpose.
See below for our specific needs - and THANK YOU for helping women take the first steps to self-sufficiency, and for following our guidelines.
All items must be
- freshly dry-cleaned or laundered and ironed
- on hangers (except accessories)
- no more than three years old
We accept the following for job interviews and for clients who land jobs requiring business attire:
Business Suits Slacks/Trousers
Skirts Blazers
Blouses Purses
Scarves Belts
New panty hose New Cosmetics & Toiletries
Shoes - we especially need size 9 and up, and wide widths
WE PRIMARILY NEED SIZES 0 & 2 and SIZES 16 & UP.
THANKS TO OUR DONORS, WE ARE FORTUNATE TO BE WELL-STOCKED IN OTHER SIZES.
We cannot accept clothing in boxes or bags.
